Well, you will once you read this excellent tome written by Bruce G. Hallenbeck, who I consider an expert on British Films and British Film Companies (he contributes frequently to the professional Hammer Films fanzine LITTLE SHOPPE OF HORRORS). Amicus Films released some excellent anthology films, including DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS; TORTURE GARDEN; THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD; TALES FROM THE CRYPT; ASYLUM; THE VAULT OF HORROR; and FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE, as well as many stand-alone films. Hallenbeck wisely sticks to the anthology films here, and this book is filled with many rare photos, posters and ad mats from those anthologies. If you think British horror was mainly done by Hammer films, this book should change your mind. If you already knew about Amicus Films, Hallenbeck offers many new stories and facts about all those anthologies we know and love. I couldn't put this book down until my eyes began to close by themselves. A few hours later, I opened my eyes with the book still on my lap. Yes, it is that good. The anthology films put out today (like the V/H/S series and others) can't hold a candle to the Amicus ones. My highest recommendation.Product details

The Amicus Anthology British Cult Cinema 9780957676282 Books Reviews
Well-written, researched and organized, Bruce Hallenbeck's The Amicus Anthology is a must for any fan of the company's entertaining and memorable portmanteau films of the late 60's-70's. Hallenbeck traces the origins of the professional collaboration between Milton Subotsky and Max J. Rosenberg, their early attempts to create a name and vision for the company, and the hits and misses of their colorful career (and the ups and down of their surprisingly complicated personal relationship). Filled with fabulous film stills and behind-the-scenes photos from the set, the book immerses you in the experience not only of watching an Amicus anthology, but of their creation and production as well. Whether your favorite is Tales from the Crypt, Asylum, Doctor Terror's House of Horrors, or another of the company's output, you are well-served by this in-depth look at how these films carved out a fresh and creative niche for themselves in British horror, both hearkening back to predecessors like the classic Dead of Night, yet managing to create their own unique presence and influence future approaches to omnibus horror in both film and television. this fast-paced and entertaining read will have you firing up the DVD or seeking to fill your library with Amicus fare in no time!
Excellent book! Another winner from Hemlock!
